FIL is a French language immersion summer camp for teenagers in the South of France.
A language holiday with FIL is a real adventure: on horseback, in a sailing boat, tackling ropes above a canyon, wake boarding or on the beach, you’ll speak and learn French all day long. You improve French while having fun!
The participants come from anywhere in Europe and also from all over the world to spend an amazing time all together! Groups are divided according to age: the "Juniors" are between 11 and 15, and the "Ados" are between 15 and 17. There are between 16 and 24 participants in each group with a minimum of 2 young French people as well as 2 to 3 energetic leaders who will accompany the teenagers during their stay!
FIL are convinced that you need to practice a lot to be able to speak a foreign language, so FIL's priority is to develop oral expression through daily French practice. They encourage participants to speak French all day long, in addition to the French workshops they have every day. They must live, feel, think and also dream in our language! And with FIL, they'll live in a French-speaking environment!
Spending a summer with FIL is sharing daily life in French in an international atmosphere. But it is also a lot of great activities, original and creative French lessons, meeting awesome people, and unforgettable moments.
Location
Between mountains and the bright blue sea, FIL is established in the heart of the southern region of Pyrénées Orientales, which has 320 days of sunshine per year, to offer you a holiday full of discoveries. Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and its long sandy beaches, surrounded by the Pyrénées Mountains and its high peaks, at the Spanish border, the Languedoc Roussillon region welcomes FIL for unforgettable holidays in France. Fil is located at Saint Laurent de Cerdans, a charming typical village nestled in the green hills filled with chestnut trees, beeches and oaks. Under the gaze of the "Canigou" Mountain (2785 meters high), there's nothing like it!
Home Base
Our home base, called "Le Noell", is located in an exceptionally sunny environment in the middle of a 94 hectares of woods, with moors, prairies, and many streams.
"Le Noell" is situated at 4km from the village of Saint Laurent de Cerdans with the road ending at our front door; the center is located in a unique, safe setting. The center at "Le Noell" has welcomed thousands of young people over the years and and takes part in everyone's memory, and soon yours!
At "Le Noell", participants can enjoy the swimming-pool under a bright sun with tons of cosy spots outside. Several common rooms, one with a fireplace, house the crazy evening activities lead by our energetic team and not forgetting that they change for a night club party for the FIL participants the last night of the stay.
Age 11-15 years 11 day Immersion Programme
French courses: 21 hours of French lessons (7 sessions during a stay).
Kayak and stand up paddle board on the Mediterranean sea, a great time before sunset riding along the coast!
Treetop Adventure Park, different activities on the top of trees for all levels.
Hiking in the Pyrénées Mountains close to the Spanish border
Canyoning, a great adventurous activity in a canyon, 2 hours down the river: 3 rappels of 3, 16 and 26 meters high - 3 jumps (not required) of 3, 4 and 7 meters, passage under the rock, natural water slide (adapted for teenagers). Supervised by licensed instructors.
Cabaret, games and night activities at the « Le Noell »: the FIL team organises activities every evening. note to all artists who can bring their instrument, material, ... You are the actor of the night, the stage is yours!
Traditional danses and activities with Ramón Gual
Shopping and visit of Céret, St Laurent de Cerdans and Argelès, discovery of typical Catalan cities, places steeped in history, where you can shop in boutiques and buy souvenirs!
Swimming in the swimming pool & the Mediterranean Sea, relaxation, sunbathing and cooling off in the water!
An overnight bivouac on the domain of "Le Noell"
And tons of other fun activities at the "Le Noell" to discover with your "animateurs" (instructors)!

Wakeboard / kneeboard, spend an hour and half gliding on a lake via a water ski cableway, great fun guaranteed, from beginner to advanced!

The safety and well-being of the participants are the number one priority.
The sport activities are supervised by qualified professionals. The transportation is carried out by a coach company and the short trips are made by minibus, with experienced drivers. The programs, the supervision, the activities, the transportation and the accommodation are in compliance with the regulations of the relevant ministry.
There are many different ways to reach Le Noell, FIL summer camp’s location:
BY CAR
60 km in the South of Perpignan, follow the A9 highway and take exit 43 following the direction of Amélie Les Bains. (200km from Montpellier/two hours driving from FIL summer camp). A precise itinerary will be sent to you before the beginning of the stay.
BY PLANE
- Perpignan-Rivesaltes airport (60km/one hour and fifteen minutes from FIL summer camp),
- Girona airport (100km/one hour and twenty minutes from FIL summer camp) or
- Barcelona international airport (200km/two and half hours from FIL summer camp).
FIL are able to organise group and individual shuttles from/to the different airports.
BY TRAIN
From Perpignan TGV railway station (55km/one hour and fifteen minutes from FIL summer camp).
FIL are able to organise group/individual transfers from/to the railway station.
From Paris Fil are able to offer a service of accompanied trip by TGV train from Paris Gare du Nord / Paris Gare de Lyon (Paris railway stations). They organise a group shuttle on the day of arrival and day of departure from the railway station.
Included: FIL team member with the group of children, metro/underground transfers, TGV train tickets, transfers from Perpignan railway station from/to FIL summer camp.
Our train leaves at 2:07pm from PARIS GARE DE LYON to Perpignan, FIL - the first day - and arrives at PARIS GARE DE LYON at 3:53pm the last day.
*** FROM LONDON ***: you can take an Eurostar train to PARIS Gare du NORD arriving at 11:47 the first day and leaving after 18:00 on the departure day. A meeting with the FIL member is planned at PARIS Gare du Nord between 11:30/12:00, then the group takes the metro/underground towards Gare de Lyon, the railway station from where the TGV leaves.
*** FROM BRUSSELS ***: you can take a Thalys train from Brussels to PARIS Gare du NORD arriving at 11:35 the first day and leaving after 18:45 on the departure day. A meeting with the FIL member is planned at PARIS Gare du Nord between 11:30/12:00, then the group takes the metro/underground towards Gare de Lyon, the railway station from where the TGV leaves.
